Lake Norman Wedding {Jennifer and Joe} ~ Charlotte Wedding Photographer

Sleigh bells led to wedding bells for one blissful North Carolina couple.
Jennifer, a speech therapist, met Joe, a land developer, through a mutual friend. A week later, they met again at Second String Santa in Charlotte.
Sparks flew.
Flash forward to Jennifer’s 39th birthday.
“My parents had us over for dinner and all my brothers and sisters were there along with their children. After we finished a delicious roast dinner, my mother placed my birthday cake in front of me — a prune cake, my favorite — so I could make a wish and blow out the candles. The entire family was surrounding me for a photo as I blew out the candles. As soon as I blew out the candles, my fiancée said, ‘Wait. I have one more wish.'”
He got down on one knee.
“He opened this pretty, shiny box and said, ‘Will you make me the happiest man alive and spend the rest of your life with me?'”
“I said ‘YES, YES!!! along with my sister who was also yelling ‘YES, YES!’ and bawling her eyeballs out, too. I think she thought she just got engaged! (She had been waiting for this day all her life, too, and was ecstatic to say the least. So, I cried and was overjoyed and shocked that my dream had come true after 39 years. I was going to marry the love of my life: Joseph.”
The couple was wed in an intimate backyard ceremony. The bride’s father, The Rev. Walter H. Cathey, Jr., married Jennifer and Joe.
“At the end of the evening, each person lit a luminary lantern and made a wish,” Jennifer said. “It was a magical and surreal moment as we watched everyone release them at the same time and then watching the wind drift the light into the heavens.”
The couple followed up their joyous ceremony with a three-week trip to the Mediterranean.
But of all her beautiful wedding day memories, Jennifer has no trouble selecting her favorite.
“It was being with my first two loves. I’ve always been a ‘Daddy’s girl,’ so first, having my daddy walk me down the aisle, and secondly, having the first dance with my new husband while the most important people in our lives watched us. There wasn’t a dry eye among us.”
