Could any photographer ask for more?
I hit the jackpot: a gorgeous, intelligent couple; one of the best wedding venues in the Charleston area (Palmetto Bluff, by the way); and two FANTASTIC sets of loving families and friends.
Jonathan met Leslie at work, when they both toiled together at Starz television. I could make some corny jokes about “the stars soon dancing in their eyes, the swooning when they beheld each other,” but I’ll restrain myself. This couple is simply too cool for that.
The irony is that while they both worked for Starz, and both lived in Denver for years, they didn’t meet each other until the 2006 Telluride Film Festival. Cue romantic music… and it just got better from there.
To give you a sense of the couple’s hilarious but dry wit, read how they describe themselves on their wedding website: “Jonathan was born at a very early age. He’s from Rockland County, NY, and has been in Denver for 10 years. Jonathan earned his degree from Cornell University. He is the former Senior Vice President of Network Operations for Starz.. He now is an independent television producer. He was originally cast in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series, but after a knee injury, he was replaced by Tom Cruise. “
“Leslie is originally from Atlanta, GA, but grew up in Littleton, CO. She has a degree in International Politics from the University of Colorado, and has worked in sales, marketing and events. She started at Starz in 2004, and is enjoying her current role as Corporate Events Manager, working on entertainment and cable industry events, as well as the occasional film festival. She is known for her coordination and cat-like reflexes, despite often being called “Klutzola” by those closest to her.”
The wedding was held at the chapel on the grounds of the The Inn at Palmetto Bluff near Bluffton, SC, on Sunday, May 1. Did I mention Palmetto Bluff is one of my favorite places to shoot (by far)? The venue is lovely, and the Inn’s Kelli and Heather are incredible to work with.
The ceremony was a blend of faiths, with Jonathan’s dad, Julie, serving as his best man. Leslie’s bridesmaids have all been friends since fifth grade. There were two officiants, a rabbi and a minister.
For their reception, they brought in DJ RIPM from Denver, who will soon rock the house on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” The man knows his job, and the reception proved it!
After countless heartfelt toasts, dancing and cake, (and some really cool Chuck Taylors) Leslie and Jonathan left the reception surrounded by shimmering sparklers. There were s’mores around the fire pit for the guests (a Palmetto Bluff tradition.)
