My first full-time photo job was working for a tiny little daily newspaper in the mountains of North Carolina. I was a photographer, a columnist, and a reporter. Twelve years later, after four newspaper positions and some time with the Associated Press, to celebrate a big raise, I quit.
With a trunk full of brand-spanking used cameras, and a maxed-out AMEX card, I decided to try commercial photography.
To make ends meet in those early years, I ate a lot of macaroni and cheese and drove around taking pictures for little league baseball cards. (Hey, a guy’s got to start somewhere. Photography is a dues-paying business.) Let’s just say my “plan” worked, because today my style is very distinctive. My portraits appear in Newsweek, People, and Cooking Light and a host of other large and small magazines. I have photographed more people and celebrities than I can count, and I have won many national awards for my work. I have also been fortunate enough to represent some of the best-known companies in the world. I have worked for clients as large as Heinz, Reebok, Peets Coffee, and Michelin. And clients as small as one man shops. All are just as important when you get to tell their stories.
My passion is photographing real people. With more than 20 years of experience as a professional photojournalist, I have the technical expertise to make you look great in pictures.
What sets me apart is my ability to capture those transcendent moments when your soul shines. I get to tell a story. The years have given me the experience to know when and how to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments.
If you need a photographer in Ballantyne, Matthews, or anywhere around Charlotte, I’d be thrilled to work together.
